Nanjing & Shanghai tour

We stayed a night in Nanjing and woke up early for a tour round the city. Everyone of us was ready for another sightseeing tour. Xiao Hong took us to the First and longest Yangtze Bridge(长江大桥)ever built over the Yangtze River. It was built with Soviet aid in 1957 and is a two floor bridge. On the top floor, vehicles travel, and trains travel below. It was built near the place where the Han River merges with the Yangtze, and it was built between two hills where the river is narrower than it is in the rest of the city area. It is quite big and has a total length of about 1.5 kilometers (almost a mile), and the main portion over the water is about a kilometer across. The bridge has a four lane highway. There are 8 abutments and 9 arches in total. Every arch has a span of 128 meters (about 420 feet). The tour guide said it is also called 争气桥 and the pride of the Chinese Struggle into the global recognition.

Mirian guys on the Bridge.

Under the bridge.

He is a great artist who contributes a lot to maintaining the bridge by selling his art pieces. Sorry I took your photo for I am not told though I did not buy any. At his back is Xiao Hong.

A snapshot for remembrance with Chairman Mao Statue on the bridge.

After taken to the longest bridge, we were driven to Nanjing Massacre monument (南京大屠杀纪念馆)also known as the Rape of Nanking, is a mass murder and war rape that occurred during the six-week period following the Japanese capture of the city of Nanjing。We were not allowed to take any photos here or wear any black glasses.

After lunch we went to Shangai and reached there at 7pm.
to be continued.....
