Kefir - Live Probiotic Drink

This bottled jar is my first batch of Kefir Drink or the Snow lotus yeast enzyme (天山雪莲) though I have brewed many batches. The grain was given to me by my friend who is also as health conscious as me. In actual fact, before I proceed to brew my kefir drink, I did lots of research from internet. I also came to know that my grandma who is now in Heaven had almost passed away for about 2 decades used to brew Kefir for her consumption. (info from my cousin n aunty) She lived to 90 decades during her earthly live. I tried to introduce to my cousin whose health is deteriorated by the affliction of cancer cells in various parts of her body, moreover the chemotherapy exhausted and debilited her entire body. She stands very enthusiastic to take the kefir drink. Scientist research stated that Molecular formulas showing the two isomers of Lactic Acid: 0 C-OH H-C-OH H-C-O H in Kefir Drink has been shown to have anti-cancer and anti-tumor properties. Research showed that proliferating cancer cells can be at least partially restored to normal function, i.e., healed through reactivating them to normal function by involving the work of lactic acid in the body.

What is Kefir?
Basically, kefir is made by fermentation of the kefir “grains”, which resembles miniature cauliflower florettes that are the size of wheat kernels. These grains consist of casein and gelatinous colonies of micro-organisms that grow together symbiotically. The dominant micro-flora are Saccharomyces kefir, Torula kefir, Lactobacillus caucasicus, Leuconnostoc species and Lactic Streptococci. It is found that yeasts present can multiply on the sugary brown water or in milk for food. Daily consumption not only supports a balanced intestinal eco-system but also influences metabolism and ultimately regulate the health of our immune system. Probiotics bacteria help you digest foods, help keep away harmful pathogenic bacteria and produce a variety of beneficial vitamin B’s. And the present of prebiotic bacteria; the inulin which is fibre helps maintain normal bowel function, decreases constipation, lowers cholesterol and triglycerides, and helps normalize blood sugar levels.

One of the most thorough studies on kefir was conducted by Edward R. Farnworth Food Research and Development Centre,Quebec, Canada. And dated back in the early nineteen century, the best known researcher on Kefir is an international Nobel Prize winner (1908) Russian professor Elie Metchnikoff.

It is believed that Kefir drink enhances one health with its many nutritional benefit to our bodies. For me, I clearly see my heamorrhoids gone though trying in vain of other medication. Since my body do not response much to the original "Medical Maverick" I always tried to dug in my heels and rolled up the sleeves to find more on traditional methods of whatever food appealing to my body and best of all...with a price any shoestring budget can afford.

This morning our Sunday worship was a bit different cos as usual it was a combined service with BM Session. we had a pot luck lunch with our Pastor Colin and his wife Claire who are leaving us for good back to New Zealand to look after their aged father. After the lunch, little kids from Sunday School class exhibited their talent by performing some dances and songs. The adults too sang in choir group.

Already Church members felt the drumbeat rumbling inside their stomach. Guess which were my specialities?

We cordially invited Pastor Colin and his wife to lead taking their helping on the ambience of food on the table.

Whose side Jesus is on?

Sometimes, when one sees u as a weird for the fact that u r always a controversial issue to them, u might felt the world is upside down or feeling a periodic bout of desertion among all living souls on earth; especially if u r currently involved with any legal matter or family struggle. Moreover if u r a Christian, u r prompt to ask yourself "Is God ,your mighty creator on your side" or espcially your adversaries not a beliver of Christ,"Is God on their side". This pertinient question is always in mind and including myself. Thus a person might become a desspressive personality.

Today I came accross the following passage from my research work which I normally did while feeling deserted with sadness and sorrow.

Is Jesus on your side, fellow believer? Or is He on the side of those who oppose you and other believers? I am guessing most Christians feel as though Jesus is on their side. Surely He would not be on the side of an enemy who embraces injustice or iniquity, right? What I am about to say may sound like I am splitting hairs, but it isn’t: Jesus isn’t on your side… and He isn’t on their side either! Please read the passage below:

When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?” And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the Lord. Now I have come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, “What does my lord say to his servant?” – Joshua 5:13-14

If u r an understanding type of guy, u will understand that Joshua, being chosen people of God, God did not stand on his side either. Instead, God makes Joshua a stronger people to go forth. It clearly stated that God is on His own side, period.

Those who dare to rebel and make themselves His enemies are destined for destruction. Those of us who have been purchased by His blood don’t have Him on our side… instead, we have been brought onto His side! It is crucial we understand this and humbly accept the fact that we are not the focal point of our Lord’s actions throughout the Earth. We are His subjects, and as such you & I are on His side (if we truly are His redeemed) for the remainder of eternity. But do not for one second think that our Lord is behind you in your struggles! If He is behind you, then the term “Lord” can hardly be used, can it? We must always be behind Him as we follow and submit to those things that He, in His wisdom and love, has allowed to enter our lives (even the bitter struggles). Fight on, Christian soldier! Not because you have the strength of your Lord behind you, but because He has redeemed you, gone before you and calls you unto Himself while at the same time accompanying you along the way! Thus makes us a stronger person in Christ despite off all adversaries.

Blood is thicker than Water

Another week passed by, n have not written anything here though so much so to put into words. I am extremely tired especially after 4 consecutively sleepless nights taking care of my mum who suddenly suffered a stroke and could not move her right part of her body entirely. She was such an extrovert once and now seeing her lying so lifelessly on the bed, I felt so sorry for her. I told myself that this woman is my own natural mum who brought me into this world. I wanted to look after her and be with her throughout the 4 nights. Myself is much lighter than mum's weight so one can imagine how I put my mum to irrinate on a potty and failed many times, thus I needed to call my sis inlaw (whose face look like stung by the bees with such kind of attitude toward her inlaws' side) for assisting me to carry my mum. Despite of all these n indifferences of each opinion, I still able n bold in performing my filial duty as a daughter. I do not care n yet God send me a good helper to give me spiritual support. At least I am not that so down emotionally and felt the love of God and His promises to me. Praise to u my mighty God. May u have mercy with my mum and heal her and protect her in the realm of your protection. Help her to gain back her health and make her move back home from this nursing centre of Sibu Specialist Centre.

Smart Gadget - Beware while the battery is on charging!

Never use the cell phone while it is hooked to the electrical outlet! If you are charging the cell phone and a call comes in, unplug it from the charger and outlet.

If the device is having any deficit order then it can explode any moment when you are answering it which is in the risk of pronoucing death sentence on you. Although cell phone is an useful modern invention and now so essential to daily life so much convenience but we must be aware that it is also an instrument of death.

People worry about being struck by lightning while using their cell phones. They have good reasons to worry, since an average lightning (static electric ) bolt contains 30,000 amps of current, measures about 100 million volts and is about 50,000degrees Fahrenheit.

It is also advisable not to use the gadget during a storm outside in the open space. Years back my brother inlaw witness an on going graduate girl in Kuching still with her handphone under the storm being struck by the lightning and pronounced death upon arrival to the General Hospital. Similarly, we are advised not to on a handset while in the pertrol kiosk. Be mindful that prevention is always better than cure; the US saying an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Expecting 20th baby!

The above link wowed readers throughout the global and especially me. I wonder how both spouses managed to cope with such huge members (more than enough to form football team) in their family financially and time with each other. I have only three kids and needed a maid to assist me to run the domestic errands while my kids were small. With previous history of preeclampsia during pregnancy, she is standing at high risk and may God and force of good karma be with her all these while. Hurray! God's blessing n protection be showered upon them.

5 Powerful Foods that Lower Your Blood Pressure

Are you eating enough of these 5 amazing foods that help reduce high blood pressure?
Share this with your loved ones n friends...... (from Frank Mangano)

by Frank Mangano
Consumer Health Advocate
Author of the popular book: Blood Pressure Miracle

What can You Do to Lower Blood Pressure?

You don't need potentially dangerous drugs to control and reduce your blood pressure. Controlling blood pressure levels could be as simple as doing lifestyle modifications and eating healthier.

If you are a smoker, quit. If you drink heavily, try to practice self-control. At work, take the stairs instead of the elevator. And if you have been obsessed with sweet, sugary foods as well as processed fast-food meals, then modify your eating habits as well. Learn to eat the right kinds of food before it's too late.

Below are 5 of my top picks for powerful foods that could help you lower your blood pressure levels:

1. Artichokes
The use of artichokes has been implicated in the lowering of cholesterol levels in the blood. Since hypercholesterolemia is one of the risk factors for high blood pressure, this information is actually good news. Three clinical trials conducted separately by Dr. Barbara Wider supports this fact. In Cochrane Database of Systemic Reviews’ October 2009 issue, where the result of the study was published, it was shown that patients who were diagnosed with hypercholesterolemia and given Artichoke leaf extract exhibited a decrease in their blood cholesterol levels.

Artichokes taste amazing steamed (generally steam for about 1 hour) and then dip each piece into a mixture of olive oil, grass-fed butter, and garlic. Delicious!

2. Bananas
A study published in The New England Journal of Medicine says that incorporating bananas in your day-to-day meals can actually cut stroke-related deaths by as much as 40 percent. A 1997 study at Johns Hopkins University recommended eating at least five bananas daily to achieve the desired effect, and that is to lower elevated blood pressure levels. However, a study conducted by Indian researchers at the Kasturba medical college revealed that people who eat two bananas a day, for one whole week, can lower their blood pressure levels by 10 percent.

Bananas are rich in potassium, which is responsible for the proper functioning of the heart. It works with sodium to maintain balance of the body’s fluids, which is an important factor in the regulation of blood pressure.

3. Beets
A research study conducted by scientists from Barts and The London School Medicine revealed that simply drinking one 500 ml glass of beetroot juice each day can produce astounding health benefits, especially to the heart.

Beetroot juice has been found to lower high blood pressure levels. Professors Amrita Ahluwalia and Ben Benjamin, from the William Harvey Research Institute and Peninsula Medical Center, respectively, led the research efforts, which revealed that the consumption of dietary nitrate that is found in beetroot has BP-lowering effects in as fast as 1 hour after ingestion, with the effect lasting for up to 24 hours. The result of the study was published in the March 2008 issue of Hypertension.

You can try beetroot juice, or also try baked beets sliced on salads or as a side dish to dinner.

4. Cocoa
A study conducted by researchers from Germany’s University Hospital of Cologne revealed that cocoa can significantly lower high blood pressure levels. Study results were published in the Archives of Internal Medicine. The beneficial heart effects of cocoa are attributed to its flavonoid content, specifically procyanids.

Because cocoa is most commonly found in chocolate, people falsely assume that eating a lot of chocolate could be good for the health. Keep in mind that cocoa in chocolates have undergone a lot of processing, and it has been mixed with loads of sugar, so this is not totally healthy. The best way to take advantage of the health benefits offered by cocoa is to choose raw cacao – it is good for the heart, the brain and the liver. Raw cacao nibs go great in smoothies! Also use organic cocoa powder in smoothies or homemade hot cocoa sweetened with stevia instead of sugar.

5. Garlic
Researchers from South Australia’s University of Adelaide have conducted studies, which provide solid proof that the consumption of garlic can indeed help lower elevated blood pressure levels. Garlic supplements in powder form were given and results revealed that it produced a reduction in systolic blood pressure. Garlic has been known all over the world as a very important herb, especially with its heart-protecting capabilities. It helps lower blood cholesterol levels and prevents blood from forming clots (which could lead to heart attack and stroke).

Furthermore, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences journal has published the results of a laboratory test showing how garlic juice can lead to a decrease in blood pressure levels. Eating the equivalent of 2 cloves of garlic each day can significantly contribute to the health of the heart.

Steamed & Salted Orange Cures Cough

This method had been tested by many people, and found to be one of the best methods to stop cough.

Cut off a little slice off the orange's top Add a teaspoon of salt

Replace sliced top and fix it with a toothpick.

Place in a bowl and steam for 10 minutes.

Last Friday my sister and her family came to visit me and stayed for 2 nites with me. The following day we drove to Miri for a day trip and did some of the shopping there. On the way we pampered ourselves with some fresh and nice durians. We were back after a great delicacy of seafood for dinner in one of the restaurant at the waterfront. Having great time together with my neice and nephew. Yesterday yet again my family accompanied them for a nice breakfast and to shop arround in Bintulu, should said I seldom do such shopping here but ended up I bought more than the others. LOL.....

Life in Melbourne

It is late Autumn in Melbourne now and has been freezing cold for a sojourner like me from an equatorial climate of 30*C to now 7*C. This autumn happened to be a bit colder that the last previous 3 years. The following is a scene taken with my ipod touch near my friend's house around Chanstone area.

The Autumn coloured leaves.

These are not the white pebbles but are the hailstones which were fallen this afternoon.

Life in Melbourne

Exactly 2 months staying in Melbourne and not been taking any action to write anything here due to the inconvenience of the bandwith in the area that I lived. Now I just come to stay with my ex-classmate and followed her going to work or to any eateries that she brought me and just spending the entire evening or afternoon after work schmoozing with the people around there.

This is one of the Church which I helped my friend to clean; overlooking a vast area of the farm land that Fathers and Brothers live and rear their cattles and sheep to supplement their church funds and their own living. May God bless them always!

The cattle with their parents resting under the trees.

The Sheep were grazing in the cold Autumn when picture was taken through the car's window. Pictures were taken with my ipodtouch 4.

For the next three months I might live like a frog in a well cos moving to a new settlement area and without any wifi provider. Anyway, I shall get any opportunity to update here. I am just taking this opportunity while waiting for my flight to Australia later.

Handsome musketeers

My 3 handsome musketeers as their father proclaimed somewhere in the social network. Yes they are my very assets on earth. Now they are all grown up, and one by one leaving their nest' leaving me myself sometimes talking to the four corners of the walls when their dad went out for work or travelling. No doubt I savoured every moment talking to them on lines and also with my friends to make myself not that lonely. I missed u all and hope u all do well.

Y the Wedding Ring is worn on the 4th finger?

Amazing and try it for yourself! Or is that there is a vein called Vena amoris whose Latin name means, literally, "vein of love" which ran directly from the heart to the 4th fingers. This theory has been cited in western cultures as one of the reasons the engagement ring and/or wedding ring was placed on the fourth finger, or "ring finger".
This is another tradition that the Christians picked up from the Romans.

My Cleaning Poem

I asked the Lord to tell me
Why my house is such a mess
And why I never have a nice dress
He asked if I have been 'computering'
And I have to answer 'yes'
He said that why you are in a mess
That's why you have no time to dress
He told me to get rid of my 'mouse'
And tidy up my house
So I started cleaning
Cos the first task on my 'mouse'
The smudges off my 'mouse'
I wiped and shinned the topside
That really did the trick....
I was just admiring my good work
But I didn't mean to 'click'
But click I did and oouch.....
I found new site and friends..
And what a real absorbing site
That I got so indulged into it....
I was into the site all night...

So nothing changed except my 'mouse'
It's as shinny as the sun
And comes the morning sun...
I guess my house will always stay as a mess
And so will never get properly dress
While only sitting here on my bum
