Mobile Phone

4 Things U probably Never Knew Your Mobile Phone Could Do

Your mobile phone could actually be a life saver in times of grave emergencies. The followings are just some tips for you to learn.

1. Emergency

When in times of emergency, when you are out of the mobile coverage area, dial
112 which is the emergency Number worldwide for Mobile which will search for
the existing network to establish the emergency number for you and
interestingly, this 112 number can be dialed even your mobile keypad is locked.
Try it out.

2. When your keys are locked inside the car

If you locked your keys inside the car, and have your remote keyless system
installed, this cell phone will come in handy for you. Just call someone at
home to their mobile phone on your cell phone.

Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your
home press the unlock button, holding it near to the mobile phone on their end.
You can find your car unlocked which save someone from driving to you passing
the key.Obviously, distance is no problem in times of emergency but
what about if it is several hundreds of miles from you. Unlocking your car over
the mobile phone is the choice.

3. Hidden Battery Power

When your mobile battery is at its low end, to activate it just press the
key :*3370#.
Your mobile will restart with the remaining reserve and the instrument
will show a 50% increase in battery level. The reserve will get charged next
round your charge the battery.

4. To disable a stolen mobile phone

Key in the following digits on your phone *# 06 # to check your mobilephone
serial number, the 15 digits will appear on the screen. Write it down and
keep safe in your wallet. When your phone get stolen, you can phone your
service provider and pass this code to them. They will be able to block your
handset even if the thief has changed the SIM card, your stolen phone will be
totally useless.

Reunion

To all my Steno friends 77/78

The word reunion is a noun form which derived from the word reunite (verb) which means to bring together again to convene. It can be family reunion, student reunion or friendship reunion.

With the constant advancement of science and technology, especially in information technology, one gets connected with just a finger click away, and the world made so much smaller. Despite of the hustle and bustle of life the current trend of student reunion came into existence.

On many occasions, I was invited to my husband’s students reunion. It was a great fun together, sharing the past memories, who and who liked each other of such sort and it created an atmosphere to their past. Being the youngest one among the group was always an advantage with all those complimentary remarks, envious words and looks. …ehem..

When monitor Lily came to visit me more than 2 years back, she was very inspired and motivated to have our own reunion with the on hand contacts that I had. She called for the 1st meeting and to my dismay that I droved alone to Sibu just to find only meeting her, despite of this we had a good time together and started searching all u ladies out and with full set of the address including our respected teachers. Thanks to all of u for contributing the email id.

Though I was not present during the time Philo came back from Melbourne, Agnes was always ever ready to report to everybody of the reunion. My first meeting with all u ladies nonetheless only a brief 30 minutes was indeed a moment like the past where friends are probably the meat and potatoes of my social calendar back into the 17 – 18 teens then. Our English teacher who is a shy (lousik) type remained the focus of attention. How mischievous we were then to him? But teachers did admittedly said that we are the only group to invite them out for dinners or breakfast. With my time constraint, I also forgetten to ask whether he is a grandfather or not?

The thought to challenge our IT expert (who was not present then) made me promised to blog for our reunion always stayed but laziness made me sink without a trace until lately mails from u ladies starting to convene for another meeting. Vow, looking forward but rather a bit too early. Will catch up with u gals.

One study found that satisfying friendships predict longevity better than even close family ties, and they can protect against obesity, depression, and heart disease, among other health problems. No wonder one always feels reenergized after a marathon catch-up call with your best college friend or a girls'/boy's night out while during such early dates. Cheer!

Friends , act against your age: Your friends keep you young—simple as that. So if hectic schedules keep you apart, consider carving a more permanent place in your schedule for friends time. Take advantage of Facebook or e-mail groups or msn etc…to stay in touch on a more frequent basis—even clicking through and commenting on a pal's recently uploaded vacation photos can help you feel closer. Do that gals! Don’t keep to the old grannie roles. Ha2……

Here comes my 2nd meeting with u ladies on the 3rd April 2010.

Names r not inserted cos new readers to my blog will need to crack their head where am I.

Yogurt

Walking into the supermarket today, one can find a varieties and flavors of yogurt taking up considerable space in the daily section. I am very tempted to just buy when on sales, otherwise I do culture my own with the yogurt maker.

Yogurt being an excellent source of bone-building calcium, it is believed that the bacterial cultures Lactobacillus bulgaricus (L. bulgaricus) and Streptococcus thermophilus (S. thermophilus), that are used to make yogurt, carry their own health benefits.

It is believed that the many different types of friendly bacterium found in yogurt can help prevent and remedy diarrhea. And if one is on medication, e.g with antibiotics, yogurt do a lot of help. Taking yogurt regulary, boost one body's immune-system function, warding off colds and possibly even helping to fend off cancer.

To me, culturing a pot of yogurt is easy and takes me less than twenty minutes for the preparation. Just get ready the real base and culture (Easiyo Yogurt)from the supermarket and blend it with the required amount of water. Put the pot in the maker to culture it for about six hours and ready to serve.

Pumkin Soup

I like making the classic pumkin soup for my family be it the creamy pumkin soup or just the Asian style. Pumkin itself has different health benefits. I read somewhere that it is good for diabetic. Pumkin is high in cartenoids, which neutralize dangerous free radicals and help to protect your skin cells from damage.

Besides, pumpkin also contain zeaxanthin and lutein, which neutralize free radicals in the eye lens, protecting your eyes from disorders like macular degeneration and cataracts.

Iron, fiber, and zinc are found in the flesh of pumpkin. Iron is important for your red blood cells, fiber is important for your bowels and zinc can help to prevent spine and hip osteoporosis.

There are plenty of vitamin A, vitamin C, manganese, and potassium in pumpkin too, so you could say that pumpkin soup is a superfood. It is certainly beneficial for you in many ways. In order to stay young and healthy, I like experiencing the soup into many different ways.

My lazy style is always quick without too much time consumed or standing too long near the stove.

First, I steam the pumkin when done with the washing and cut into the required size. When it is soft enough, cool it and make into puree with a blender.

Next, just fry some red onions or garlic, pour down the ready pumkin puree and add in some water to shimmer it over until it looks creamy. Pour in some fresh milk or cream cheese. Finally, dash in some pinky salt to taste to complement its natural sweet flavor. ( No Ajinomoto, as its never store in my kitchen )

Sometimes if I can get some prawns, I will cook it with curry instead of the cheese.
The yeild is so "Yummy"

Lamp Chops

Lifting up my spirit over the gloomy weekend is none other than just cooking something that my family want to eat. Otherwise, too much of the outside food is not my choice to be more on the health conscious gound. Me, despite a die-hard with the lamb, I did enjoy grilling the lamb chops for them. The most rewarding response was always "Vow, we have lamb chop tonite" overjoyed moment from the kids. So, it just another piece of popular mythology that "To get into your man's heart is to cook good food for him." It should be better replaced by "To get into your boy's heart is to cook good food for him." And I wonder how true my readers here would comment. Ha2......

My lamb chops is simple and yet lazy way of cooking with little time consumed. Just get some ready chopped lamb of the size appealing to U and the amount u required. I have no specific secret of doing it with just marinating them with a tablespoonful of wine and dashes of pinky Himalayan salt after the washing. Then sprinkle some herbs like parsley, mint and oregano to eradicate the stink out of the lamb. Grill it at a medium heat and it would be done in about an hour. When done, it should be finger licking good!

A good senior moment!

The Garage Door

A senior boss walked into the office one morning not knowing his zipper was down and his fly area wide open. His assistant walked up to him and said:

"This morning when you left your house, did you close your garage door?"

The boss told her he knew he'd closed the garage door, and walked into his office puzzled by the question.

As he finished his paperwork, he suddenly noticed his fly was open, and zipped it up. He then understood his assistant's question about his 'garage door.'

When he headed out for a cup of coffee and paused by her desk to ask:

"When my garage door was open, did you see my Hummer parked in there?"

She smiled and said:

"No, I didn't. All I saw was an old mini van with two flat tires................."

Wonders of Grapes

How Grapes Protect Your Heart

A diet enriched by grapes may prevent the downhill sequence of heart failure after years of high blood pressure. A study suggests that grapes may prevent heart health risks beyond the simple blood pressure-lowering benefits that come from a diet rich in fruits and vegetables.

The heart-healthy benefits of grapes may be the result of the phytochemicals (naturally occurring antioxidants) activating a protective process in the genes that reduces damage to the heart muscle.

Researchers studied the effect regular table grapes had when added to the diets of rats.. After 18 weeks, the rats that received the grape-enriched diet powder had lower blood pressure, better heart function, and fewer signs of heart muscle damage.

QUOTES:
Dr. Mercola's Comments:

Although I often suggest most people limit their fruit intake due to its high sugar content, fruit does have some beneficial properties, and grapes are a great example of this.

When rats bred to develop high blood pressure were fed a powder made from green, red, and black grapes, not only did their blood pressure go down, but their heart function improved and they had fewer signs of heart muscle damage than rats not fed grapes.

The grape powder even outshined the blood pressure medicine hydrazine, as although it lowered the rats’ blood pressure, it did not protect their hearts from damage.

This is because grapes contain a blend of phytochemicals -- naturally occurring antioxidants -- that work synergistically to turn on protective genes that reduced damage to heart muscles.

A study last year also found that grapes go a long way toward preventing clogged arteries. Compared to the control group that was given water, those given grapes or grape juice experienced several health benefits, including:

• Lower cholesterol
• Less oxidative stress
• Less fat accumulation in their aorta

The Seeds and the Skins: Two Important Parts of Grapes

When enjoying fruits it’s important to eat them in whole, fresh form, as this way you get access to all of their beneficial properties. In the case of grapes, 90 percent of the nutritional health benefit is located in the skin and seeds.

Grape seeds are powerful antioxidants, and their extract is rich in proanthocyanidins. Scientific studies have shown the antioxidant power of proanthocyanidins is 20 times stronger than vitamin C and 50 times stronger than vitamin E.

Aside from helping to lower your blood pressure, grape seed extract may have a positive impact on a number of diseases including:

• Leukemia
• Skin cancer
• Obesity

Grape seeds have also been shown to improve flexibility in joints, arteries and body tissues such as your heart, and research studies have shown grape seed helps improve blood circulation by strengthening capillaries, arteries and veins.

Resveratrol, meanwhile, is an antioxidant found in grape skins. It is making headlines because it appears to slow down aging and even increase the lifespan of human cells. It reduces oxidative stress damage to your cardiovascular system by neutralizing free radicals, and helps support your body’s natural defenses.

Resveratrol is also unique among antioxidants because it can cross the blood-brain barrier to help protect your brain and nervous system, and studies show that its benefits are wide reaching, including:

• Protecting your cells from free radical damage
• Inhibiting the spread of cancer, especially prostate cancer
• Lowering your blood pressure

• Keeping your heart healthy and improving elasticity in your blood vessels
• Normalizing your anti-inflammatory response
• Helping to prevent Alzheimer’s disease

Can Grapes be a Healthy Part of Your Diet?

If you are healthy, eating a handful of organic grapes as a snack is certainly reasonable. However, I would conservatively estimate that 75 percent of the U.S. population needs to restrict fruit intake. Anyone with high insulin levels needs to be careful.

You can measure your fasting insulin level, or if you have any of the following problems it is highly likely you have insulin resistance syndrome, and would benefit from restricting fruit:

• Overweight
• High Cholesterol
• High Blood Pressure
• Diabetes
• Yeast Infections

Additionally, protein nutritional types need to be careful about eating too much fruit.

To get the most health bang for your buck, if you eat grapes choose muscadine grapes. Muscadine grapes actually have the highest concentration of resveratrol in nature because of their extra thick skins and numerous seeds, where it is concentrated.

How Else Can You Get the Benefits of Grapes?

Some of the healthy compounds in grapes, such as resveratrol, are also found in abundance in red wine. Resveratrol in particular is highly soluble in alcohol, meaning your body may absorb more of it from red wine than from other sources.

But there ARE other sources out there, including cocoa, dark chocolate and peanuts, so don’t feel you must drink alcohol to get the benefits.

You can also get many of the benefits of grapes in supplement form, which may make sense particularly for those of you trying to cut back on sugar in all forms. Be sure to look for one made from muscadine grapes that uses WHOLE grape skins and seeds, as this is where many of the benefits are concentrated.

Hurt

Irene,(cos real name been taken away)from my CG, I read your mail with tears this morning, and I am just speechless but only can encourage you with the following quote from
Luke 10:19 (NIV)
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
So I believe that hurt itself is not from God but from the evil. Why not u let that hurt be crushed onto the feet of our Lord? Listen to the above song.

anger and hurt

Luke 15:25 – 32 came into my attention while reading it before my pre afternoon nap.28"The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him.

How much the prodigal is restored, forgiven, and full of joy, while the elder brother stands outside and refuses to go in. The stay-at-home son who is more of a background filler makes us think about the state of our heart pouring out sour moods creating untold misery.

The state combination feeling of discontentment, jealousy, bitterness, resentment, defensiveness, touchiness, underprivileged and ingratitude are the dispositions that can ruin our marriages, wither our children, alienate our friends and embitter every life – including myself exactly. Such feeling easily lead to defend bad mood and to slide into a deeper deception and hypocrisy.

Irene (not the real name), honestly I could feel how hurt you were when you poured out your sharing yesterday in the CG meeting. I am sorry acting like a psychologist though not one, prompting you of the cause of the original hurt in you. Please just bear in mind that God has His purpose of you in this world and He would have the joy in you every time of your submissiveness in Him.

So when anger and bitterness linger in your heart, it poisons all you think and do. But then when faith seeks ways to show God’s love, it keeps your spirit strong and true.

Think of the Old Testament in the book of Job, one of my favourite book. Job who was blameless and upright, a man who feared God and shunned evils. After the 2 tests incited by the satan and given by God’s authority to destroy all his fortune , his offsprings and then his physical appearance. Imagine the situation, how hurt was he? Despite all these, and the nagging of his wife and the three friends, holding on to his integrity Lord made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before.

Farting Gas Fact revealed!

"Beans, beans.... the musical fruit..beans drumming on the way out of your ass..."
Poot.. toot.. the morning thunder. No offence please, readers! Myself already feel embarrassed and flushed at the mere thought of it. But the truth is farting is much like urination and defecation and blinking and breathing. Farting is just a fact of life. It's a simple, biological function, and, in fact, is absolutely necessary in order for a human being to be healthy! So.. let the breaking wind blow.... ha ha ha....

This morning I got this article from my mail box and inspired me to blog here. TQ Anna.

I love baking and cooking but felt uneasy when I do not have an oven here. I would not spend more getting a new oven as I will be moving back. Last Tuesday, I just gathered whatever I could to make a cake for my Cell Group friends. No proper measurement needed. I just called "my chocolate cake" without baking and very crunchy with different nuts and other ingredients added. O Catherine, I am so honoured with u asking for the receipe but I do not have any as it is my own creation. I always change a given receipe to a different taste of my own. I think I have a simple one quite the same as this but left it at home. I will email u then or will put here in the blog. Let me go to search out first.

Bursa Malaysia KLCI

O o mg! KLCI is diving much this morning to the south, taking lead from U.S. stocks' flat finish overnight, and the Regional and the European Market as well. Is this a major correction? Or just a good shopping sphere? My fingers felt a little big itching to touch the buttom, but with the limited bullet left, I better wait for the clearer lead. None of the counter in my radar screen stays green and all in the Red Sea lo. Better not to catch a falling knife than sorry to miss an opportunity, after all the market is there always. Moreover it's Friday today.

A New Template

Ephesians 4:25-32 (New International Version)

25Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26"In your anger do not sin"[a]: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27and do not give the devil a foothold. 28He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.

29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

It has been always my usual self to read something before I could fall into my gentle slumber. It was that Ephesians 4:25 - 32 caught my attention. Look like the passage is referring to me when all the time I tried not to identify myself in the blog which I supposely meant acting as a vessel to e-evangelize and reach out to His ministry. But if that withholding myself as a coward, then how? Can this anonymity the last refuge for such cowardice? Like people hiding behind the screen of anonymity or a false identity feel the freedom to launch angry, hurtful tirades which lead to be unkind without having the slightest thought to take responsibility for the words poured out from them.

According to Ephesians 4:29, our words should edify and impart grace. If I am unwillingly to make myself identified, then it should not glofigy god. With this in mind I decided to change my approach in blogging. I take another appearance of my blog template. So ......more to come from me.

Happy Birthday James!

photo taken during graduation ceremony, December 2008

Twenty-five years ago exactly the date today, I gave birth to u. U were such cute n fair tinny baby then. Being my first born, I was then so innocent and blissfully ignorant of experience of having a baby. U know mum was almost fainted after the struggle of pain for more than a cylce of the clock. I was then on drip. But then when I was able to be discharged u still need to be taken care off by the nurses and to observe your jaundice and the excessive mucus from your gut.

Now mum is proud of u, son, to be graduated with Degree in Environmental Science and a Master in Architect. Most of all mum and dady are proud of u getting married to Rowena early last year and then celebration done last December both in Miri and in Bintulu. We all wish u the best of everything and this is just the beginning chapter of your life. May the blessing from God pour abundantly to u and Rowena.

God, the best maker of all marriages,
Combine your hearts into one.

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."

Sunday Worship songs

There is a longing
Only You can fill
A raging tempest
Only You can still
My soul is thirsty Lord
To know You as Im known
Drink from the river
That flows before Your throne

Take me deeper
Deeper in love with You
Jesus hold me close in Your embrace
Take me deeper
Deeper than Ive ever been before
I just want to love You more and more
How I long to be deeper in love

Sunrise to sunrise
I will seek Your face
Drawn by the Spirit
To the promise of Your grace
My heart has found in You
A hope that will abide
Here in Your presence
Forever satisfied

Take me deeper
Deeper in love with You
Jesus hold me close in Your embrace
Take me deeper
Deeper than Ive ever been before
I just want to love You more and more
How I long to be deeper in love (2)

Take us deeper Lord.

A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'

When I say that 'I am a Christian', I am not shouting that 'I am clean living.
I'm whispering 'I was lost, but now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.

When I say 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess

When I say 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect.
My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it.

When I say 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner who received God's good grace, somehow!

Today is Beautiful Christian Woman's Day.
Pretty is as Pretty does but, Beautiful is just plain Beautiful..

I'm supposed to send this to Beautiful Women, and you are one of them!!!

If you share this with other women, you will boost another woman's self esteem,
And she will know you care about her!

Be Blessed, Be a Blessing!

In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Diet Blunders that Slow Metabolism

Mistakes That Put the Brakes on Metabolism

If u r conscious with your physical appearance especially if u r creeping up with age, probably u need to be more alert on what u eat, including me. From my inbox today, I received such info and found it a good read n I cared seriously to blog n paste it here for all u readers to read.

10 ways to ignite your fat-burning furnace

You probably don't need scientists to tell you that your metabolism slows with age. But they're studying it anyway--and coming up with exciting new research to help rev it up again. The average woman gains 1 1/2 pounds a year during her adult life--enough to pack on 40-plus pounds by her 50s, if she doesn't combat the roller coaster of hormones, muscle loss, and stress that conspires to slow her fat-burning engine. But midlife weight gain isn't inevitable: We've found eating strategies that will tackle these changes.

But first, the basics: To boost over-40 weight loss, make sure your meals are around 400 calories, the amount needed to fuel your body while keeping you satisfied, translating into effortless weight loss.

The following metabolism-boosting food rules were developed by Dan Benardot, PhD, RD, an associate professor of nutrition and kinesiology at Georgia State University, and Tammy Lakatos, RD.

Learn how to adjust your eating plan and keep your fat-burning furnace ignited all day long.

1. You don't eat enough

You need to cut calories to lose weight, but it's important not to overdo it. Going too low delivers a double whammy to your metabolism. When you eat less than you need for basic biological function (about 1,200 calories for most women), your body throws the brakes on your metabolism. It also begins to break down precious, calorie-burning muscle tissue for energy, says Benardot.

"Eat just enough so you're not hungry--a 150-calorie snack midmorning and midafternoon between three meals (about 430 calories each) will keep your metabolism humming."

By eating a meal every 3 to 4 hours, you'll stay satisfied and keep from overeating later in the day.

2. You avoid caffeine

Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant, so your daily java jolts can rev your metabolism 5 to 8%--about 98 to 174 calories a day. A cup of brewed tea can raise your metabolism by 12%, according to one Japanese study. Researchers believe the antioxidant catechins in tea provide the boost.

3. Your carbs are white

Boost your fiber intake by switching to whole wheat bread, pasta, and eating more fruits and vegetables. Research shows that some fiber can rev your fat burn by as much as 30%. Studies find that women who eat the most fiber gain the least weight over time. Aim for about 25 g a day--the amount in about three servings each of fruits and vegetables.

4. Your water is room temperature

German researchers found that drinking 6 cups of cold water a day (that's 48 ounces) can raise resting metabolism by about 50 calories daily--enough to shed 5 pounds in a year. The increase may come from the work it takes to heat the water to body temperature.

5. Your food is covered with pesticides

Canadian researchers report that dieters with the most organochlorines (pollutants from pesticides, which are stored in fat cells) experience a greater than normal dip in metabolism as they lose weight, perhaps because the toxins interfere with the energy-burning process. Other research hints that pesticides can trigger weight gain. Always choose organic when buying peaches, apples, bell peppers, celery, nectarines, strawberries, cherries, lettuce, imported grapes, and pears; non-organic versions tend to have the highest levels of pesticides.

6. Your meal lacks protein

Make sure protein is a component in every meal. Your body needs it to maintain lean muscle. Add a serving, like 3 ounces of lean meat, 2 tablespoons of nuts, or 8 ounces of low-fat yogurt, to every meal and snack. Research shows protein can up postmeal calorie burn by as much as 35%.

7. Your diet needs to pump iron

Iron-rich foods are essential for carrying the oxygen your muscles need to burn fat, says Lakatos. Until menopause, women lose iron each month through menstruation. Unless you restock your stores, you run the risk of low energy and a sagging metabolism. Shellfish, lean meats, beans, fortified cereals, and spinach are excellent sources.

8. You r missing this crucial vitamin

Vitamin D is essential for preserving metabolism-revving muscle tissue. Unfortunately, researchers estimate that a measly 4% of Americans over age 50 take in enough through their diet. Get 90% of your recommended daily value (400 IU) in a 3.5-ounce serving of salmon. Other good sources: tuna, shrimp, tofu, fortified milk and cereal, and eggs.

9. You've had one tipple too many

Skip the second cocktail. When you have a drink, you burn less fat, and more slowly than usual, because the alcohol is used as fuel instead. Knocking back the equivalent of about two martinis can reduce your body's fat-burning ability by up to 73%.

10. You're not getting enough dairy

"There's some evidence that calcium deficiency, which is common in many women, may slow metabolism," says Lakatos. Research shows that consuming calcium through dairy foods such as fat-free milk and low-fat yogurt may also reduce fat absorption from other foods.
