IS REFINED SUGAR HARMFUL TO YOUR BODY?

Click here to go to the link.

Being an avid reader of health articles, I always missed out the subject touching on SUGAR. And also all my previous blood test results always showed non negative to keep alert. My blood glucouse level was always at the level of <4.3. So always thought myself as healthy. In addition, I like baking cakes and cookies which made me addicted to all such juck food. Chocolate ,cakes, cookies and biscuits are my favouties. Without knowing these are junk food and high contain of sugar which is the sweetest toxin to my body. Convince myself that a little sweet now and then won’t kill me.

Actually sweets don’t really do anything for us except excite our taste buds. Sugar is considered to be an “empty-calorie” food. Nevertheless, sugar has long been used to help make certain foods more palatable, which should make us wonder why we eat them in the first place.

Few can deny the inevitable lure of sweets, adding in sugar in the morning coffe,or any drinks, snatch a donut (or two) many sweets added to the morning breakfast and hanker for a candy-bar pick-me-up in the mid-afternoon, and then top of a hectic and often stressful house chores with several scoops of ice-cream which is another of my favourites.

A week ago, my migraine came knocking in my body, and the evidence against the hearsay, who and who afflicted by aging diseases, chronic diseases, cancer and so forth made me alerted for a radom premium body check. Subsequent to my blood test, this round seem not that pleasant as my blood glucouse inched up to alert me, though not classified as a victim of diabetes. The serology test prominently indicate of the H. pylori Igg in my stomach which was the symptom of severe gastritic that I had suffered. I need to take an extra strain on the antibiotic on a 7 days course. I hate taking antibiotic but no choice despite my doctor alerted me of much side effects. Again adding stress to my body.

Sunday Worship Songs

I have found myself a hiding place
I have found myself a secret space
In the shelter of Almighty's love
In the shelter of the Savior's arms

I will run to the hiding place
I will run to the hiding place
Draw me ever closer to look upon Your face,
I will run to the hiding place.

Where would I be
If You had not been by my side
How could I rise to meet
The morning of the day
Your tender mercy
Always calling from behind
At times I could not see You
Even though You were close by
Chorus:
Lord You are good
You are good
And Your mercy forever endures
Lord You are good
You are good
And Your mercy forever endures
Help me to see Your loving kindness
Help me to see You as You are
Help me to see Your loving kindness
Help me to see You as You are
As You really really are

Songs

[Winter's Secret] Lyric in English:
To warm the memories but its no use
Still cold under the sunlight
I am standing on the traffic island
Lost direction Do not want to go home

You're too nice You're too beautiful
I hate myself to thinking of you
I disdain myself from too emotional and always vulnerable
I am freezing and no soul

It's embarrassing to keep this secret alone
But all of my friends said that I was too melancholy
I can not tell I love you but I saw you're sweetly hug with him
I am pretending and to endure that long lasting sadness

If I said I really love you
Who will fix that broken friendship
If I held back the secret
The warm winter will be unforeseeable

You're too nice You're too beautiful
I hate myself to thinking of you
I disdain myself from too emotional and always vulnerable
I am freezing and no soul

It's embarrassing to keep this secret alone
But all friends said that I was too melancholy
I cannot tell I love you but when I saw youre sweetly hug with him
I can just pretending and to endure that long lasting sadness

If I said I really love you
Who will fix that broken friendship
If I held back the secret
The warm winter will be unforeseeable

If I said I must love you
Promise to give you my whole heart instead of the friendship
If I held back the secret
I should be missing to bury the winter's secret

If I said I really love you
Who will fix that broken friendship
If I held back the secret
The warm winter will be unforeseeable

Should be missing to bury the winter's secret

Bintulu Maritime Centre
Tasmania Architecture Awards 2009

Quotes from The Australian Institute of Architects

SWT Blythe Student Prize
Award: The Bintulu Maritime Centre by James Wong Kung Ding
Final year design projects present to students an opportunity to propose their own project brief in order to develop design responses that will highlight their skills in design and communication. This also presents an opportunity to relate architecture to society in a meaningful and dynamic manner responding to specific and challenging circumstances.

It represents both the end and the beginning.

The Bintulu Maritime Centre by James Wong Kung Ding, is a project that explores the conflict between industrial expansion and traditional heritage in a fishing village in Sarawak Malaysia.

The design carefully constructs a strategy from an appreciation of vernacular offshore fishing structures and creates an architectural language that finds its form as a cultural building integrated within an existing riverside urban context.

The project is presented with a clarity of graphic material that balances text, drawing and image that lucidly conveys a sophisticated response to the complexity of the brief and its resolution as architecture.

It is a well deserving winner of the 2009 SWT Blythe Student Prize.

Prayers

Hey hubby, if u r peeping into my blog again, below are several of the quotes u need to know. I know u r too concerned for your mum during her recent health condition while hospitalized. Cos' "Blood is thicker than water." Thanks to God everything is so fine now with all the prayers and loves showered from God magnified through His people. Hallelujah! Amen...

Prayers are communication of spirits to the Holy Spirit. To all my readers, Amen..

Verses that attract me from bible especially when one is of adversely affected by the sickness or otherwise.

At time your urge to pray
Roman 8:26-27
26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.

Jesus also prayed for the deaf and a mute man
Mark 7:34
33 After he took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers into the man’s ears. Then he spit and touched the man’s tongue. 34He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, “Ephphatha!” (which means, “Be opened!”). 35At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly.

The prayer of faith
James 5:13-16
13 Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. 14Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. 16Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

Your Heavenly Father knows u before u pray
James 6:6-8
6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Ask, Seek and Knock and you will be given
Mathew 7:7-12
7“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

9“Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

When you pray, believe that you receive them
Mark 11:23-24
Havef faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23“I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

5 All-Star Health Supplements

I dislike taking health supplements, look like I always have to force myself to swallow those stuff, but as creeping up with age, I do take the fish oil as dietary supplement. Among the dizzying array of natural products found on pharmacy and health food store shelves, and from my daily reading, Prevention.com uncovered five truly outstanding complementary treatments in pill form that hold up to scientific scrutiny just as well as prescription drugs do.
Here are 2 everyone should consider, plus 3 others that benefit your bones, heart, stomach, and more. Remember to consult your doctor before taking. Here it goes:

For Everyone: Fish Oil

The Research: Talk about a heartfelt endorsement: "The only dietary supplement consistently shown in randomized clinical trials to work against cardiac death is fish oil," says Dariush Mozaffarian, MD, DrPH, assistant professor of cardiology and epidemiology at Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health. Omega-3 fatty acids (eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid, more commonly known as EPA and DHA) found in salmon, tuna, and other fish appear to increase heart health and fight cardiac death by stabilizing the heart's electrical system. Other benefits include lowering blood pressure and triglycerides, slowing arterial plaque buildup, and easing systemic inflammation. Fish oil was more successful than statins at preventing death in heart failure patients, according to a recent Italian study.

Bonus Benefits: Research shows the omega-3s in fish oil may also help lower your risk of stroke and nonlethal heart attacks, relieve anxiety and depression, and reduce the risk of cognitive decline.

For Everyone: Vitamin D

The Research: It's suddenly one of the most popular vitamins on the planet, and for good reason: Up to 53% of us may not get enough vitamin D from sources such as direct sunlight or food (fish and fortified dairy, for example), reports the National Institutes of Health--and the current guideline of 400 IU daily has recently been dismissed by experts as insufficient. That's because this nutrient has wide-ranging health impacts: More than 1,000 human and lab studies indicate that vitamin D not only augments calcium absorption but may also ward off breast, colorectal, ovarian, and other cancers. And getting too little vitamin D could cause premature death from heart disease, according to a recent study. "Vitamin D has really gotten the attention of the medical community," says Michael Holick, MD, director of the Bone Health Care Clinic at Boston University School of Medicine.

Bonus Benefits: Getting more vitamin D may also lower your risk of developing autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis, studies have found. And not getting enough has been linked to bone, joint, and muscle pain; fibromyalgia; and osteoarthritis.
Morning sunlight before 9am and evening sunlight after 5pm are the natural scource of Vitamin D from the sunlight given by God.

For People with High Cholesterol: Reducol

The Research: Plant sterol and stanol compounds in a healthy diet can lower LDL (bad) cholesterol by as much as 20%--comparable to the effects of statin drugs. But the small amounts in fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds aren't always enough to provide the 2 g daily of sterols and stanols the AHA suggests for people with high cholesterol, which can increase the risk of heart disease. Foods containing manufactured sterol/stanol blends such as Reducol can help: In one study, Reducol added to margarine lowered LDL by 15%. Fat in foods helps aid absorption of sterols and stanols, but Reducol pills may help as well (e.g., Nature Made CholestOff and Twinlab Cholesterol Success, both in 900 mg servings). "The pills aren't as effective as food, but they can still lower LDL cholesterol by up to 10%," says Peter Jones, PhD, director of the Richardson Centre for Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals at Canada's University of Manitoba.

Bonus Benefits: Initial evidence suggests that sterols and stanols may reduce the risk of breast, colon, and stomach cancers. For now, though, ask your doctor before taking Reducol for any reason other than your cholesterol.

For People with Tummy Trouble: Culturelle

The Research: Culturelle is one of the most-researched probiotics on the planet. The only US dietary supplement containing the active culture Lacto- bacillus GG (LGG), it acts directly on the immune system and helps ward off viral illness; replaces good bacteria killed in the intestines during antibiotic therapy; and keeps harmful bacteria, fungi, parasites, and other infectious microorganisms in check (it eliminated up to 47% of traveler's diarrhea in two studies). Culturelle survives unusually well in stomach acid to colonize the intestine and contains 10 billion live cells per dose--10 times more than most yogurts. "That's important because probiotics can't help keep your gut healthy if they don't last, and few do as well as LGG," says Jon Vanderhoof, MD, a professor emeritus at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. In a recent Australian trial, people who ate yogurt containing LGG cleared antibiotic-resistant bacteria from the gut in 4 weeks, while those eating yogurt without it didn't.

Bonus Benefits: Studies suggest LGG may also ease irritable bowel syndrome.

For People with Joint Pain: Pycnogenol

The Research: This French maritime pine bark extract is cited in more than 200 studies and continues to impress researchers. In two recent trials, osteoarthritis patients who took Pycnogenol for 3 months reduced their pain and stiffness by 35 to 55% and needed fewer drugs such as NSAIDs and COX-2 inhibitors. Pycnogenol's efficacy is probably due to its having both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. "Pycnogenol's compounds are especially potent, yet there aren't really side effects," says Sherma Zibadi, MD, a graduate research associate who studied the extract at the University of Arizona's College of Public Health.

Bonus Benefits: Pycnogenol wards off heart disease by lowering LDL and raising HDL (good) cholesterol, reducing blood pressure and risk of clotting, and controlling blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. It has also reduced menstrual aches in a study, cutting days spent on pain meds in half. A new study shows it may even help fend off jet lag.

The wonder of gingers

As an avid reader of health articles, here another excellent and highly readable account of such in my email box from my classmate who sent me few days ago. TQ A. Yu.

Back in year 1993, taking a stroll down my memory lane,I still remembered vividly the gynaecologist who delivered my boy on caesarean asked my mum to make ginger juice out of the fresh ginger to eradicate my abdominal pain when injections of painkiller seen to no avail. Though very hot, I took a full tablespoon of the said fresh juice and it just did the wonders. Since then, I like to drink the ginger tea and I used a lot of gingers as ingredient for food flavoring. Ginger is crucial in the battle against cardiovascular health. The volatile oils of the versatile ginger plant are responsible for its active medicinal properties.•For centuries, traditional Chinese medicine has valued ginger as a tonic for digestion. It was no wonder that Foochew race used a lot during the confinement period after delivering the baby. Read here the other alternative wonders ginger can offer. Hope it will be of benefits to you & others. Wishing you all a happy healthy life. Remember "Health is Wealth"

Quotes:

Did you know the benefits of Ginger?

Ginger is one of the world's seven most potent disease-fighting spices. Ginger has been used for its health benefits for over 5000 years and is a favorite medicinal as well as culinary herb. Unlike most spices, the part that has the most medicinal value grows under ground. Often mistakenly called “ginger root” this is actually the rhizome of the plant which is more of a subterranean stem than a root. Although you can use dried ginger and powdered ginger for health benefits, fresh ginger is preferred.

The intake of ginger helps stimulate the secretion of mucus, quieting your cough and soothing any scratchiness in your throat.

Ginger has been proven (in multiple studies) to treat feelings of nausea, particularly in the form of seasickness, morning sickness, motion sickness and as a side effect of chemotherapy.

In pregnancy is to be extra careful!! Never use any herb, including ginger, without first discussing it with your doctor!! As for those suffering from ulcer, or other very serious gastric problems, they should also consult their doctor.

Ginger contains anti viral, anti toxic, and anti fungal properties, and is used for the prevention of and treatment against the common cold.

Ginger acts as an antihistamine and aids in the treatment of allergies.

Ginger displays anti inflammatory properties and can be used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and various other muscular disorders.

The chemical components of the root are instrumental in inhibiting the biosynthesis of prostaglandins which are responsible for causing inflammation.

Thus the root has proven to be a highly effective form of treatment, in some cases, even more so than the NSAID's that are traditionally prescribed.

So eating ginger may help to prevent cancer and aging disorders.

Ginger contains special enzymes responsible for catalyzing the proteins in your food, thus aiding in digestion and the prevention of cramps.
Good for those with constipation!

The ancient Greeks used to eat ginger after a large meal, in order to ease the digestion process.

Ginger has proven to help lower your cholesterol levels and prevent the formation of blood clots.

As a mood enhancer, ginger's cineole content may help contribute to stress relief.

Also used for migraine headache.

Ginger can also be used for reducing toothache and the discomfort which arises due to the infection in the upper respiratory tract due to its antibacterial and antifungal nature.

Chewing on fresh ginger, can help freshen the breath.

Being a warming herb, ginger can help knock out a fever. This property also makes it effective in stimulating circulation of the blood.

It can also help relax muscles around the blood vessels and is said to help prevent blood clots from forming. The warming effects make it a natural decongestant as well as an antihistamine, making it the perfect remedy for colds.

Some studies show that it can even help inhibit the replication of the herpes simplex virus.

Recent studies show that ginger might also have a role in lowering LDL cholesterol because the spice can help reduce the amount of cholesterol that is absorbed.
It has also been shown in animal trials to help slow or even prevent cancerous tumor growth.

To discover the health benefits of ginger for yourself, simply make a tea by steeping about 5 slices of ginger in hot water.

If you prefer it in your food, Ginger is excellent in many dishes and is perfect when combined with garlic.

Ginger doesn't only spice up your food it can also help to put some extra spice in your intimate life too. It improves blood flow to your sexual organs, and contains Vitamin C, zinc and magnesium.
