Sunday Worship - Words from God

I was delayed in posting Words from God, cos been too tired after right from Church I needed to send my other half to the airport. Then rushing to pack all the things that I needed. Yes, needed to drive few hundreds km from hometown to the present home I stayed with my boys. Thanks God for the safe and a pleasant journey.

Today, whole day managing my pc as well as my boy's pc. Too many unwanted junks needed to be deleted, scanning for the virus, disk defragmenting and etc....at the same time running for household errands, till now as I read my Daily Devotional/Daily Bread, thus an inspiration came to me to jot down some of the words from God.

Thanks to God, as He spoke through our Pastor Colin who spoke with an impeccable New Zealand accent. Let us refer to Hosea 4:6 (New International Version)

6 my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.
"Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also reject you as my priests;
because you have ignored the law of your God,
I also will ignore your children.

Proverbs 2:21 (New International Version)
21 For the upright will live in the land,
and the blameless will remain in it;

Pastor Colin shared from 2 Peter 1:3-19 Use the following link to read or scroll to the below link to get.

We must open our heart to know him and put out all barriers to know him for instance, temptation, fear and pride.

The character and attitude of us are more important than having a university degree or whatever. For 1 Corinthians 3:16 said:

16Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? 17If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple.

So it is the heart that where our God dwells. For we are of His image. ( Genesis 1:26 )

26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

Hence we should be of light of God to illuminate his character but to dis-illuminate out the dark.

Hosea 6:3 (New International Version)

3 Let us acknowledge the LORD;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth."

2 Peter 3:1-7 (New International Version)

2 Peter 3

The Day of the Lord
1Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking. 2I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.

3First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4They will say, "Where is this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation." 5But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

Hebrew 12:28

8Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29for our "God is a consuming fire."

Verse 7 touched me. (from 2 Peter 3:7 )
By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

Hosea 6:6 (New International Version)

6 For I desire mercy, not sacrifice,
and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.
2 Peter 1:2-6 (New International Version)

2Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
Making One's Calling and Election Sure
3His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;

Through all those verses, the implication is the need for knowledge, rather not of earthly knowledge, though is the basic knowledge to survive but knowledge of above High, of Him, our God, in-order to enjoy our lives eternally. Let us pray to God that we turn our ears to wisdom and applying our heart to understanding. Amen.
