For a taste of authentic Malay delicacies, it was just nice our Muslim friends started the Ramadam and extra hawker stalls found in several sites in town offer a gastronomic treat for the taste buds. One can feast on a variety of hawker food such as fried rice, nasi lemak, nasi padang, pow, cakoi, curry puffs, satay, roti John (long hotdog of fried egg and minced meat), pais (barbequcd fish, prawn and beef), pulut panggang (barbequcd glutinous rice), kuih malaya (Asian-style waffles with peanuts) and kebabs. I liked fish grilled and barbecued in banana leaves.
Yesterday, as promised to take brother Mac to Sushi King, we went for lunch. We almost finished all the varieties displayed on the train. The price of each dish is according to the colour of the plate. Likewise we also called some side orders. The taste of all these Japanese food reminded me when we were at Excapade Sushi in Kiulap, Brunei Darusalam two months back. But this resturant need to be booked in advance at least an hour. The business is so encouraging that it expanded into other four more branches around in Brunei. Mirian guys loved to drive to Kuala Belait just to enjoy the sushi cos' it is only forty minutes drive to its ideal venue for family gathering or dating for youngers. And it is worth going if you pass by Brunei.
